A significant event took place at the International Scientific Center “Observatory” on Mount Pip Ivan – the signing of the Agreement on Scientific and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the State Institution “National Antarctic Science Center” of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
The delegation of the National Antarctic Science Center was led by Deputy Director for Scientific Work Iryna Kozeretska.
The meeting was attended by the acting rector Ihor Tsependa, director of the Astronomical Research Station of the International Scientific Center “Observatory” Volodymyr Troyansky, secretary of the Supervisory Board Yana Stadilna, head of the Department of Biology and Ecology, coordinator of the ecological and meteorological directions of the MSC “Observatory” Myroslava Mylenka.
During the meeting, Igor Tsependa and Volodymyr Troyansky presented the scientific and infrastructure activities of the observatory, in particular within the framework of joint Ukrainian-Polish initiatives.
In turn, Iryna Kozeretska introduced those present to the main areas of work of the Antarctic Center and the prospects for joint research.
The signed agreement provides for cooperation on a free basis in the field of scientific, scientific-technical and innovative activities.
Among the main areas:
• conducting joint research and technical and methodological tests at the observatory on Mount Pip Ivan;
• training of participants in Ukrainian polar expeditions;
• joint participation in competitions and scientific programs, in particular, studying materials obtained during Antarctic missions;
• preparation and publication of research results;
• organization of conferences, seminars, round tables, joint research projects.
Denis Pishniak, Head of the Department of Atmospheric and Geocosmic Physics, was appointed as the coordinator and scientific consultant from the State Scientific and Technological Institution of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Volodymyr Troyanskyi was appointed as the coordinator and scientific consultant from the Carpathian University.
This partnership opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian science, from the Carpathians to Antarctica. The joint use of unique infrastructure, such as the Pip Ivan Observatory and the Akademik Vernadsky Station, will contribute to the development of scientific research of global importance.
